art + creative
by augy
A small sample of art and creative projects I’ve produced over the years. Since my pre-teen years until my high school graduation, I spent countless hours in the art studios/rooms of my school under the teaching and guidance of gifted educators, several of which had previously worked (or continued to work) as professionals in their field.
Over those 7 years, I acquired a robust and well-developed understanding of art & design principles and took dozens of courses through which I worked with various paints and pastels, multi-media scuplting, printmaking, ceramics, and even introductory graphic design, photography, and film. I have continued to learn and create since high school, though not formally for any degree program or course.
My creative methods are rather scrappy and “primitive,” and I often create using whatever random items I might find in the moment. My work, furthermore, is often characterized by its distinctive colors, patterns, texture, and movement that generally reflects the rhythmic blueprint of the natural world which is full of texture, beautiful asymmetry, rich color, and organic forms. I am also profoundly moved by the richness of so-called “primitive” art, or folk art as well as ancient, Christian sacred arts like iconography and even sacred chant.
